"the piano’s this melancholy soundtrack to her smile..."

It's been an interesting week for me and it's only Wednesday. I'm not sure how I feel about that.
I passed a test I really didn't think I was going to pass. I basically got and turned down a job that I've thought I wanted for years. I cut off all my hair last night...or rather, early this morning when I should've been sleeping. I realized that not only have I lost contact with most of my closest friends, but there are a couple that I really don't think I am going to get back. I found out the infomercial for the sham-wow is a fraud! I know. Click on that for evidence. I guess that's all part of life, right? It doesn't make it any less disheartening. Oh, and Mom, just to up-to-date you on the infomercial since you had no idea what I was talking about...

"I'm writing again, these letters to you...on much, I know..."

Dear Aloha Shave Ice Place located by the Purple Turtle,

You make the best Shave Ice snow cones since Hawaii. Thank you, thank you. (minus the blue raspberry, you might wanna tone that one down). I even like ice cream in the bottom of my snow cone, which sounded gross to me at first. It is most delicious. I have restored faith that the amazingness of Hawaii can in fact be found in some little things in this place I reside for now and my summer is uplifted having found you. Please never leave me.

Tastefully yours,
your number one fan

Dear Nightmares,
Please stop. I hate your guts and this morning I woke up crying because I thought Michelangelo was dead. I am sick of your nonsense and I will have no more of it.
Stop toying with my emotions and get out of town already. Nobody likes you.
Good Riddance,
Your sleepless enemy

Dear Bishop,
Thank you for giving me a calling today. I am kind of nervous, because I've only ever taught sunbeams and they are way less scary than big people, but I will try my best.
Sincerely,
New Calling-er

Dear Mom and Dad,
No thank you for not showing up to watch the movie in the movie room. We saved it for you anyway, so there is no getting out of it. Plus I have junior mints and popcorn, courtesy of your last visit. Plus you could go straight over to seeing baby Nathan from my place. Plus, you love that movie and we got it to watch with you! Plus I'm awesome and I know you secretly love hanging out with me.
Disappointed until further notice,
your loving daughter

"WAIT! oh yes, wait a minute Mr. Postman. Waiiiiiit Mr. Postman..."

Dear UPS Man,
Thank you for delivering a brand new lappytop to me for no apparent reason, and then writing down my name as "KMONG" on the proof of signature receipt you can look up online, so that if the real owner tried to contact me, they would be looking for an Asian. Sorry if you lost your job.
Pleasantly Confused,
KMONG

Dear Neighbor girl with the amazing last name of Stouffels,
Thank you for not living where the box said you lived and never coming to get your laptop and finally re-ordering with overnight shipping so that by the time I got in contact with Dell, you already had your new purchase.
Curiously Amused,
your friendly neighbor

Dear Dell Customer Service,
Thank you for responding to my email regarding the laptop I received in error. It was kind of rude of you to not really read my letter and respond with a message about some user manual or another, but after two tries I am now giving up. Thanks for the new Lappytop.
Gratefully Yours,
shiny new laptop owner

"look how they shine..."

p.s. Yesterday Colie, Melinda and I all got glitter toes with bright colors in celebration of summer. Woo hoo!

So, we went up to Ogden the other night for the 24th of July fireworks. I don't know why, but WSU does them earlier than the 24th. Yay Utah and it's celebrating of unusual holidays. Ha ha.

Carly was adorable and kept peering in at the bunnies at my Uncle's house. The best was when you asked "what does a bunny say?" and she would answer promptly, "hop, hop".

The fireworks were pretty cool, but the canons were ridiculously loud and earsplitting. It started to sprinkle a little before the show but it cleared up quickly and stayed warm...
Savannah was showing us how Carly can count, (you can't really see the video because they were standing under a tree in the dark to hide from the rain, but you can hear it) and Logan showed up with an umbrella, which I guess is what comes after 9 when you're counting now :) "9..'brella!....'brella..."

"the fair is a veritable smorgasborg..."

updates, updates!

So, I'm supposed to blog about the carnival on the joint blog, seeing as how nothing ever gets blogged there anymore... but, well, I'm doing it on here instead so I can combine it with the fireworks post. Sorry other blog.

Melinda called me up the other day to go to the carnival in AF. It was dark outside and about 95 degrees, which means it was lovely.

Logan and I got there just in time to meet up with Melinda and Rebecca in line for "The Orbiter", which is surprisingly similar to "The Tornado" we went on that I blogged about a few weeks ago. Anyway. Logan is not much of a carnival ride person- they make him sick. He was opting to stand to the side and take pictures, when Melinda psyched him into going so I wouldn't be riding solo in my little seat. Before it started he was doing some deep calming breathing which was making us laugh, and about halfway through (as I was suffering from whiplash) his breathing turned into moaning. That was his only ride of the night other than the Ferris Wheel. It was a queasy time for us. Maybe not Rebecca, but she's tough. Actually, I was semi-okay on that first one, but then I spotted the Gravitron! Except it was called something different. Whatever it was, I love that ride. We waited in line and Melinda, Rebecca and I climbed in to get twirled and plastered to the wall. Ugh. Yeah, I was feelin' it walkin' out of that one. I was just debating on how to make myself feel better when I saw it... The carnival ride of all carnival rides. I'd never seen such a thing. It was glorious! Round and round and upside down it spun.

Must....try....

This time it was Melinda taking the deep calming breaths before the ride. We both actually stopped watching it before we went on cause it was dizzying. But oh man, once we got on...It was amazing. Fog rose up from the ground as we lifted up, and we were off! It was the best carnival ride ever...just like I knew it would be at first sight. Amazingly, this one didn't make you sick at all- Or maybe the exhilaration was enough to make you not realize it.

Yay summer. :)
