"it's such a gas when you bring up the past..."

Logan: I had a dream you were having a baby during a hurricane, and they came out and they were RATS! and you wanted to keep them because you said they were your babies!  and I kept telling you no way.
Me: ....

Logan: It was so.gross.
Me: But.... did I dress 'em cute?
Logan: WHAT?!
Me: Well then they might not look so ratty!!

Logan: oh my gosh.

I think I might be in trouble when I have kids.

Oh, also, I did some swingin' 60's photos this weekend, which was way fun and you can check them out here: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=278996&id=99220142571&l=0ad2c36e59  :)

30 day photo challenge: day 2

Hello again. We're back with today's post, which is...

Day 02 - A picture of you and the person you have been close with for the longest.

This is a hard one for me. Outside of family I'm not really friends with anyone from my younger years until about high school, and most of those people aren't really "close" anymore... I guess that leaves...

30 day photo challenge: day 1

well hello bloggers. blogger-readers. random person who just stumbled on my blog. friends. mom. dad. whoever happens to be reading this.  I'm starting the 30 day photo challenge today. day one is:

A picture of you with 15 facts.

I'm pretty sure I've done the "hey, random things about me!" at least twice on here, as well as other random "things that make me happy!" posts so hopefully you either haven't read those, aren't tired of reading those, or don't remember them, because I don't and I might repeat some. so, here we go.

Me:

  1. if i start watching a tv show consistently with really developed characters, i end up referring to them as my "friends" and talking to logan about them on a first name basis like we really know them. this has happened with chuck, friends, dexter, house, and leverage. oh, and i do it with one tree hill. although logan wont watch it, he pretty much gets a plot summary on how my friends are doing after every episode.
  2. i loathe being put on the spot. probably why i hate those really involved games like cranium.
  3. i absolutely love it when someones laugh makes me laugh.
  4. i learned how to whistle in the last year! hurray for me! now i do it all.the.time. just like i always said i would.
  5. old people scare me. i was at an old people home recently, and this lady came wheeling by slowly, giving me the evil eye the whole time. scariest thing i've ever seen in real life.
  6. i wish i was a pro roller-skater so i could be on a roller derby team.
  7. i love dimples. i want one of my very own. maybe in my next life...
  8. i really want a little girl that's just like the little blonde girl on the princess and the frog. a little southern belle in big poofy princess dresses. aw.
  9. i have a soft spot for stuffed animals with really BIG eyes
  10. sometimes its funny, but sometimes i get really frustrated that boys can't multi-task.
  11. when i was little, i took a baton-twirling class. yay! go me.
  12. sometimes i really wish i lived in the 20's for the sweet outfits. or some other era equally fun and classy.
  13. i don't do number 13s.
  14. i'm learning to play percussion. it's awesome.
  15. i need sunshine for my well-being.

"come stand with me, I need the company..."

Once upon a time in 2005 I moved to Utah and lived there for awhile. I was working a dead end job, hanging out, hating the cold...you know- the usual. Everything was going as usual when I found out the Goo Goo Dolls were playing a New Years Eve show in Las Vegas. Hurraaaay! Obviously I got tickets, recruited some friends to come along, and the night was a blast.
About a week before the show, however, I got a call from my brother asking if I wanted to fly out to Florida to work his super-sweet job with him. The answer to that question is always a yes. I was super stoked, and then he told me I needed to fly out in a few days. Miss the Goo Goo Dolls? Noooooo! So I worked it out that I could pack up all my stuff, drive to Vegas and go to the show, drive back the next morning and fly out. Brilliant.
When I got to Florida it quickly became apparent that I needed to buy some actual shoes for this job, rather than wear my standard every day every weather flip flops. I went to the shoe store and found these:
and a great love was born. They are the most comfortable shoes ever. Seriously. I didn't want to take them off in the store. So I didn't. I bought them.

Little did I know my first day of work was going to be taking this boat out off the Florida keys and getting caught in a crazy downpour.

My shoes had a rough time recovering from all that salt water. They were never quite the same after that, but I wore them everywhere.

 Islands of Adventure,

wading through the waist-deep mud for work,

getting crazy dirty from riding ATVs...typical work stuff...

those things survived it all. They were amazing.

They even carried me around on our 3-week camping/hiking trip to The Grand Canyon, Mesa Verde, and the Arches in Moab, as well as other camping trips to Zion National Park.

Finally, eventually, they'd had enough. I sadly threw them away a couple years ago.

But this story has a happy ending! We found those same shoes not long ago at Journeys, and I wanted them soo bad but they didn't have them in my size. After all the hype, Logan tried them on and loved them and bought a pair. ha ha. Anyway, I was super sad and decided to look online and lo and behold, I found some that I might love even more! They're Vegan and they have cork-board soles and green polka dot insides :) I got them today as my reward for working out consistently for 30 days. I'm SO EXCITED! :)

"I'm hopelessly pretending that I know the answer"

I really like this video. I admit it's a little weird with how much they show him breathing in the beginning, but they get away from that after a minute. It's very cool.

In other news, I've been making hats galore over here again. I've still been too much of a slacker to actually take real pictures of them, but here are a few cell phone pics.
this guy is my favorite. i named him Hootie

Hope everyone is having a good holiday! or if you didn't get a holiday today,  happy monday anyway :)
