"one minute here, the next you're gone"

First of all let me just say, kudos for the rock reference, mom. Well played.
Second, Gwen Stefani? Gorgeous.

So anyway, I dyed my hair white. It lasted me a couple months.

In the 2 weeks it took my new driver's license to get to me, I already looked like a different person.

It was the only color I had left to do, and now I've come full circle. Unfortunately, my hair wasn't thrilled about the whole thing and after dying it back dark yesterday I had to chop all of it off. Happy healing, hair.

Logan composed/ arranged this version of The Little Mermaid song for my entrance at our wedding because he is amazing and loves me. I am so grateful for this sweet man who is thoughtful enough to think of the little things that will make me happy.

"you wont forget katrina..."

So I haven't changed my name because honestly, I'm having an identity crisis! I've been Katrina Maughan my entire life. No matter what changed, that was me, my identity, my name. The thing everyone knows me as, and the one constant in my life forever. I know marriage brings a name change and all that, but I never really actually thought about it that much. It's like the end of an era! Anyway, so that's that. I've been putting it off and putting it off. At first I just joked about it, but then it got more and more unsettling thinking of being a new person with a new name.
I finally decided it's been long enough, and I thought I'd get the name change ball rolling...when I got this from the SS office...

and to think I was worried about them misspelling my new LAST name. Surprise everyone! More than just my last name has changed! Talk about an identity crisis... :)

"this is the moment of sweet Aloha..."

I've been waiting to blog about the wedding until I had pictures from it, but I still don't have pictures, so....honeymoon it is! I told Logan to surprise me with where we were going, and he actually did a really good job not blowing it. He even said all kinds of things to throw me off the trail. I had my guesses, but I wasn't entirely sure. Then, at the reception, his Grandma was talking to me and said, "so...when do you leave for Hawaii?" I smirked and glanced across the room at him and answered: "um...tomorrow?" but when I told him she totally told me, he just insisted she had no idea and that was NOT where we were going.
We stayed in the Hawaii suite in Logan, Utah that night which was super amazing, and then headed down to fly out of Vegas the next morning. I didn't know for sure where we were going until we got to the airport and he gave me a present to let me know. Drumroll....what? you guessed already?

Woo hoo! Hawaii!! Ha ha.

We stayed the first two nights in Waikiki in a hotel overlooking the ocean, then we rented a car and stayed on the North Shore in a rental home. That was awesome. We were across the street from Shark's cove where we went snorkeling, a bike ride away from Sunset beach where we went almost every night to watch the sunset, a little ways away from Motsumoto for the best shave ice around, and not far at all from most of the other beaches. We loved it.
We made shirts before we left:

We went to the Laie Temple and I finally got my dream of going inside.

We went to The Polynesian Cultural Center and they called us on stage to dance to The Hawaiian Wedding song during the luau feast, and they congratulated us on getting married.
We sat on the beach and drank caramel apple spice cider together
We rode beach cruisers to the beach and we got to see sea turtles

We went on a really cool hike up to a waterfall.

We got a convertible camero for the week we were on North Shore and it was so much fun
We drove back to Waikiki and got to go parasailing over the ocean together

we got shave ice every day
We met the awesome guy from Hawaii 5-0 and he was just as cool in person
we watched the sunset together on sunset beach

we watched fireworks on the beach on Aloha Friday
It was the perfect honeymoon.

aaand, this is what I brought back. good riddance, bad dreams! doesn't it look like it was made for me? :)

27 was a really good year for me. I got to see my favorite band, fulfill my almost lifelong dream of riding an awesome little mermaid disney ride, move somewhere warm and beautiful, visit Boston like I've wanted to forever, go indoor skydiving, go to the beach in California, go to Disneyland a couple times, spend over a week in Hawaii and parasail, made new friends and saw old ones, went camping, got engaged, got new nieces and nephews, and had the most amazing wedding to the best guy for me I can imagine. I don't really see much topping that...so I'm just gonna go ahead and call this year 27 -2.o...

rebecca trying out the fort
My birthday this year was really fun. Rebecca has been staying with us for a couple weeks so she was here for it and we all went out and celebrated. We had birthday breakfast, birthday snow cones, went to a birthday candy store, birthday danced, went birthday swimming, ate birthday dinner and dessert, opened birthday presents, and watched a birthday movie in a birthday fort we made. (the little mermaid. obviously.) hurray!

Plus lots of people wished me Happy Birthday and it's fun to hear from everyone. Also, I got awesome presents.. Yay!
Summer is the best.

A couple weekends ago Melinda came down and she and Rebecca and I went to Vegas for the day.

We had a ton of fun and saw all the sites. That was my first time going up in the Eiffel Tower, it was so cool watching the Bellagio fountains from up there. Once again, yay for summer!

wedding, colors, and other fun.

Our wedding invitations have arrived in all their Disney glory! My ring is finally here! This weekend we're getting pre-wedding photos taken by one of my favorite photographers! Friday is my last day of working at 5am! The wedding is one month from today! Whew. Lots of things. If you'd like to send us your address for an invitation, you can do that here: lhttp://loganandkatrina.blogspot.com/p/address-submission-form.html... as well as find other general info about the wedding.
and since we've all been so patient...here are a couple sweet phone pictures of my ring :) ha ha.

so cool right? it reminds me of sleeping beauty.

A couple weekends ago I had my Bridal shower and it was awesome. For real. I'm waiting on pictures before I actually post about it so that maybe you can get a taste of the amazingness, but I'm not sure yet when that'll happen. (if anyone sees my mother tell her to just send those my way...)
Last weekend we drove up to Spanish Fork for the Festival of Colors again. We went in our usual group and Rebecca brought along her friend Kayla too. It was just as cool as ever, and we even danced in a conga line while we were there (which actually took a little effort after a few minutes because we were going uphill...I'm out of shape. What can I say?) We threw color, sang, and Logan and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary.  I may or may not have lost a shoe in the midst of dancing.
It was touch n go for a minute there.

4 years of Holi

this might be my favorite picture of Rebecca ever taken. My sister, the hippie. She's even got the moves.

Hare Krishna!
