"deep beneath the cover of another perfect wonder where it's so white as snow..."

Storm Nemo is here, and it's actually been a bigger deal around Boston than Hurricane Sandy was.

 They shut down all public transit for a few days, which is crazy when you consider how many people take the bus/train/subway a day here. 

They also canceled school for Logan, so we've been home watching the storm progress.

 I'm not typically a fan of snow (because of the cold, obviously, and also because I usually just see it once it's been plowed and it's all muddy and ugly), but right outside our window I've been watching it come down and it's been so peaceful and pretty. I can't remember ever seeing a snow storm like this, it's really cool. 

Today I really wanted to go jump around in some of it because it was all untouched and I was curious how deep it was. We bundled up and hopped through it and I only got stuck once or twice because it was so deep :) It's still going out there, so I guess we'll see what happens!

It got a bit blizzardy when we first went out.

it was surprisingly hard to get to the top of any of the snow because it was all so soft you just sunk in


We have this pretty mountain we can usually see really well- but as you can tell in the pictures, it's totally covered. Storm Nemo has made for a pretty view, but I'm curious how long it's going to take everything to get back to normal. After this I'm pretty much ready to skip over spring and head straight into summer!

Hello!

 I'm just writing to update on the wonderfulness of things I love coming together :)

Back in the day I watched this show called one tree hill that had lots of bands and music on it.

 On the second to last season one of the guys from the show (a bartender named Grubbs) suddenly busted out playing the piano in one of the episodes and then we found out he could sing too! And then when I looked him up online I found out he's the singer/pianist/occasional guitar player of a band called wakey!wakey!

 ....Who knew?

Well, some people I'm sure, but I didn't until then and it was a fun discovery.

Anyway, I've been listening to him ever since, and he just started off a new tour in Boston this week! So of course I told Logan we had to go and he became witness to my love of One Tree Hill and Mike Grubbs and wakey!wakey!

The concert was a hoot. It was in this intimate little cafe by Berklee, and Grubbs told funny stories and joked around with the audience the whole time while he played and the entire thing was great. He usually has violinists and drums and whatnot but he's doing this tour all on his own. I thought I'd feel like I was missing out because of that but he was incredible by himself.

I took a few pictures of the show, but for the most part I was too caught up in it all. As music listening should be. ;)

I was trying to find a video of him playing to post on here, but there are hardly any with very good sound that actually show him playing. This one has his voice mic kind of crazy, but you can get a glimpse into his piano playing and how pretty it is.

There is nothing quite like laughing until your sides hurt and tears run down your cheeks, and it's really a shame that doesn't happen more often.

I'm really lucky to have married someone who makes me laugh every day, and I've made friends with so many funny people in my life.

Logan is still on Christmas break from school, and we haven't gone to bed before 2 am for weeks now. Most of the time we're still up around 3, or 3:30am, watching funny shows and dancing and laughing. It's gonna be pretty rough when school starts for him in a week or so and he has to start getting up an hour or so after we've been going to sleep. 

I love this schedule-  staying up when the world is sleeping is so peaceful to me. It's the most natural schedule I seem to go through, and it's hard to change it to anything else. This is either going to be really good, or really bad for me when we eventually have kids. 

Anyway- back to where we started. Sometimes I really just need a laugh.

I hope everyone had a fantastic start to the new year! We wanted to go to NYC for new years eve this year since we're so close- but it turns out it's ridiculously expensive to take the train there that night, and we figured parking would be impossible if we drove, so we skipped it and went into Boston instead.

It was pretty freezing outside but we bundled up and it turned out to be a lot of fun. There were dance parties in the street, lots of musicians, and a whole bunch of ice sculptures around the city to look at. My favorites were Jack and the beanstock, and this under the sea one.  It's 2 scuba divers with some reef, a shark, and an octopus- It's called "guess who's coming to dinner".  Ha ha. 

At midnight we watched the fireworks over the ocean. Logan and I didn't have noise makers, so we squeaked along with everyone as best we could. 

On our way home around 1 a.m. somehow we got distracted and missed our stop. We ended up at the end of the line, all alone on the train. Ha ha. Sad. 

It was a really fun night despite that little detour, which was more amusing than anything.

 A week or so before Christmas I got a call from my Uncle Peter saying he and my Grandma had found some dresses she wore before she married my Grandpa back in the day, still on the hangers, in a trunk she has in her house. And by back in the day I mean around 1950! Anyway, Peter asked if I wanted them and of course I said yes because how cool is that? 

So I got them in the mail and I was totally excited to try them on. My grandma is a lot shorter than I am so I was pretty sure they probably wouldn't be very long and I had no idea what size she was back then but oh my gosh...they fit like a glove! 

I love them, they are so much fun. 

So cute, right? I feel straight out of the 50's.

A big thank you to all involved, I love that I can wear my grandma's dresses from so long ago.

Another year gone. Seems to pass so quickly these days...

but seriously. It was just like yesterday that new years 2012 happened, wasn't it? so weird.

I got engaged this year. Went to Disneyland. Got married. Went to Hawaii. Moved across the country. It all still feels a little like life swept me up and I'm just hangin' on for the ride. It's been a fun year. One of my favorites. I also played with my hair a lot, but that's pretty typical. I can gauge time periods pretty well by what hair I had...

Logan and I were talking the other day and decided if we ever had to go on the lam we wouldn't get very far in disguising ourselves. We've pretty much had every look we can!
