"come stand with me, I need the company..."

Once upon a time in 2005 I moved to Utah and lived there for awhile. I was working a dead end job, hanging out, hating the cold...you know- the usual. Everything was going as usual when I found out the Goo Goo Dolls were playing a New Years Eve show in Las Vegas. Hurraaaay! Obviously I got tickets, recruited some friends to come along, and the night was a blast.
About a week before the show, however, I got a call from my brother asking if I wanted to fly out to Florida to work his super-sweet job with him. The answer to that question is always a yes. I was super stoked, and then he told me I needed to fly out in a few days. Miss the Goo Goo Dolls? Noooooo! So I worked it out that I could pack up all my stuff, drive to Vegas and go to the show, drive back the next morning and fly out. Brilliant.
When I got to Florida it quickly became apparent that I needed to buy some actual shoes for this job, rather than wear my standard every day every weather flip flops. I went to the shoe store and found these:
and a great love was born. They are the most comfortable shoes ever. Seriously. I didn't want to take them off in the store. So I didn't. I bought them.

Little did I know my first day of work was going to be taking this boat out off the Florida keys and getting caught in a crazy downpour.

My shoes had a rough time recovering from all that salt water. They were never quite the same after that, but I wore them everywhere.

 Islands of Adventure,

wading through the waist-deep mud for work,

getting crazy dirty from riding ATVs...typical work stuff...

those things survived it all. They were amazing.

They even carried me around on our 3-week camping/hiking trip to The Grand Canyon, Mesa Verde, and the Arches in Moab, as well as other camping trips to Zion National Park.

Finally, eventually, they'd had enough. I sadly threw them away a couple years ago.

But this story has a happy ending! We found those same shoes not long ago at Journeys, and I wanted them soo bad but they didn't have them in my size. After all the hype, Logan tried them on and loved them and bought a pair. ha ha. Anyway, I was super sad and decided to look online and lo and behold, I found some that I might love even more! They're Vegan and they have cork-board soles and green polka dot insides :) I got them today as my reward for working out consistently for 30 days. I'm SO EXCITED! :)

"I'm hopelessly pretending that I know the answer"

I really like this video. I admit it's a little weird with how much they show him breathing in the beginning, but they get away from that after a minute. It's very cool.

In other news, I've been making hats galore over here again. I've still been too much of a slacker to actually take real pictures of them, but here are a few cell phone pics.
this guy is my favorite. i named him Hootie

Hope everyone is having a good holiday! or if you didn't get a holiday today,  happy monday anyway :)

Well we're back from our trip but that doesn't mean I haven't been slacking on blogging. It was fun...and lots of crazy things happened. Like the time I walked into the grocery store and a salesclerk was standing near the doors reading the newspaper. A customer came jogging by and said "I'm just gonna run out and get a cart real quick!" and the sales clerk, not even glancing up, replied: "That's fine. We only send the midgets after you if you leave the store with merchandise." Ummm....

Also, We went to a super amazing new restaurant called the wicked spoon, and made a new bff out of our waitress. Plus they had these so cute mini ice cream cones.  Oh, and I tried Mahi Mahi...which was the first seafood I've ever tried. I was ok with it until I remembered I was chewing fish and then I gagged a little. "Instead of Mahi Mahi, may I just get the one Mahi, because I'm not that hungry?" ha ha.

Aaand...we visited my parents for a couple days, and Becki asked me to make her a Gir hat (from Invader Zim, the cartoon. Gir is simply adorable) so I did, and in return she taught me how to Taylor Swift my hair. Hurray for swifty hair!

Oh! and also, while we were gone I played the drums in front of strangers. Scary, right? I know. No pictures of that, though. bummer.

"well alright..."

No new posts...I know, my blog is so boring these days. I need to get on top of things. Here's what I have been up to...
First of all, I have turned into old lady knitter over here and when my fingers aren't feeling arthritisy from all this workout, i've been making fun hats. technically, it's crocheting not knitting, but same diff, right? i can't really read patterns, so i just sort of make them up as i go, but it's been fun. :) i'm too lazy to bust out my camera, so these from my phone will hafta do for now. I think they're much cuter in person anyway, but you get the idea.

panda. i love her fuzzy ears

This is my adorable nephew and the Dino hat I made him :)

Logan and I drove down to Ogden for my cousin Jared's wedding last week and danced the night away. I don't actually have pictures from the dancing, but before we went I tried my hand at holding the camera out in front of us to take pictures...yeah...this is about how well that turned out :)

We also went roller skating a couple days ago, and that was a blasty blast. :)

Other than that i've been working out. Ha ha ha! I know, it makes me laugh to even say it. But I guess I have been. Very begrudgingly.

Speaking of unlikely things, I also watched the Steelers game on Sunday. I even made a hat before the game to show my support. I'll have to find a picture of it.

Right? I would appear to be a pre-tty hardcore fan. Really I'm in it for Troy. I don't really know what's going on in the game. I watch it with Logan's uncle Don, and we say things like "you know what time it is now?" "it's MILLER TIME!" when Heath Miller is coming out. My other favorite guy is the one from BYU with the beard. You know the one. That thing is ridiculous. But Troy is the best...because his hair can't be beat. You may have seen him in Head and Shoulders ads. Ba ha. I don't actually know anything about football. I don't have to, I'm a girl. I'm allowed to judge my players by their looks.

ha ha.

Okay, that's all. That is probably the most I've ever talked about football in my life.

Tomorrow we're leaving on a great adventure. Logan and I, I mean. I guess that means I should probably pack. We'll be gone for a couple weeks. If I don't update on the road, I'll be sure to take lots of pictures and maybe some video if I remember and update everyone when it's over. :)

Until then, how cute is this video? So cute. Don't judge by the weird face she's making in this still image.

At church on Sunday the speaker was telling a story and said: "She was an older woman. She was probably 26, and he was only 22..."

frowny face.

I'm not ready to be considered old.
