"we can dance if we want to- we can leave your friends behind..."

Friday morning I was hanging out, eating some Cap'n crunch, when I got a call from my sister Melinda. After a couple minutes of chit-chat, she asked:
"So...how spontaneous are you feeling?"
"oh...you know me...my whole life is pretty spontaneous." I said.
"Do you want to fly to Las Vegas?....today?" She asked.

And that's how I found myself on a plane a few hours later on Friday evening.

My first flight was canceled, so they put me in first-class on another plane, and I was living the high life. They brought us drinks whenever we wanted, candy bars and chips several times- they hung our jackets up for us in their first-class closet and then delivered them to our seats when it was almost time to land... I tell you what, I could get used to flying that way. ;)

Melinda and Rebecca met me in Vegas, though Rebecca didn't know I was going to show up. She was half sleeping when they got to the airport and I hopped in the backseat and yelled: "WOO! VEGAS!"

Her eyes opened and she looked confused for a second, followed by wider surprised eyes as she started laughing .."wait, what are you doing here?!"

We went to see the Bellagio fountains that night and then the next morning we set out and had some Vegas adventures around the city.

Also, we planned a new trip to drive to California that night and head to Disneyland the next morning! We went to the H&M in Vegas and Rebecca found a Cinderella inspired outfit, I found an Ariel one, and Melinda found a Minnie one. Once we were all set we headed outta town for California!

We got a room at the Embassy Suites, with this nice sign for our door:

ha ha.

The next morning we got our tickets and headed into the park.

Disneyland was sunny, mostly warm, there were hardly any lines longer than 10 minutes- it was a dream. I'd almost forgotten how much the sun makes me happy.
Almost.

We went on all the rides

and got all the snacks

and Rebecca even met her Fairy Godmother.

We passed Cinderella's wicked step-sisters and they were classic. They looked so perfect and they were sassing their way through the crowd in front of us as we walked toward the castle. I was laughing and telling Becki what a sweet job that would be, when the one in purple turned to me and yelled, "who do you think you are? ARIEL?!
and then I grinned and dubbed my Disney trip an all around success.

We got some cotton candy and watched the fireworks show from right in front of the castle and I decided once again that whoever named Disney the happiest place on earth wasn't kidding.

I took a red-eye flight back to Boston on Monday/Tuesday and sadly didn't get first class that time. Also, while waiting in the airport, this happened:

Thankfully, I was able to get home without starring in a Michael Bay film and it was a super fun weekend through and through.

Yes! I loved reading this blog to relive the fun memories. Remember how I got the nickname "Cornbread", and how Rebecca was all insulted whenever we wouldn't help spin the wheel on the Tea Cups, and how we saw so many many Disney characters and we tried to talk Rebecca into taking a picture with Prince Naveen to exclude Princess Tiana, and how we couldn't figure out why the Casey Jr. train conductor kept telling the "Wild Animals" to stay seated even though we couldn't move in the enclosed box, and how we photo-bombed that guy's photo while paused in the Haunted Mansion, and how we planned the perfect photo for Splash Mountain and instead of a photo at the end of the ride all you got was a wet bum, and how we learned that we should pose as princesses for our photos, and how it became obvious why we had never ridden Pinocchio's Daring Journey, and how we discovered the amazing 80s Rock Starz, and how it all was one of the best days ever?
